(natural fiber inherent environmental characteristics) natural growth, non-petroleum products
To make 100 sweaters, natural fiber products use 18 percent less energy than polyester products and use nearly 70 percent less water than cotton products.
Natural fibers such as cashmere, yak down, and camel down are made of keratin and are not made from petroleum like synthetic fibers. They are 100% biodegradable and do not pollute our oceans or land.
Cashmere, yak down and camel down are natural renewable and biodegradable materials. Among the common textile fibers, they are the fibers with high recycle rate and recovery rate on the earth.
Yaks live freely in the vast natural grasslands of Dangxiong in Tibet and cooperate with herdsmen in production and labor. Until winter comes, herdsmen start to breed yaks in separate pens, with fixed feeding time and grass amount, and specially equipped veterinarians to prevent and detect diseases in time, so that yaks can grow healthily. Each yak in the ranch has an "ID card", which is an electronic ear tag can be scanned. The information such as age, household owner's identity, health status and vaccination can be viewed clearly.
Chafta has a 100,000 acre cashmere goat breeding farm in Alxa, a famous ultra-fine cashmere producing area in Inner Mongolia, China, specializing in the cultivation of cashmere with a fineness of 14.5 microns. Sheep farms are kept separately and each goat wears a digital tag to ensure full product line traceability. At the same time, we have established direct cooperative relations with more than a hundred herdsmen families in the core producing areas of Alxa, which can guarantee the purchase quantity of 15.0 micron cashmere every year.
We provide the camel down from Alxa, same area as cashmere. The camel can survive in strict environment from 60 degrees to minus 40 degrees. The special living environment has created its special excellent quality, we also established the camel down raw material base in Alxa, Baby camel down fineness from 16.3 to 18.5 micron, the annual output is 100 tons. Same as yaks and goat, camel has the same management system, ensure the traceability and sustainability of camel down.
In Alxa and Dangxiong, Chafta has set up demonstration breeding bases to cultivate these natural treasures. These rare animals can graze freely on the vast land. We constantly monitor and pay attention to their living area and environment, record the whole growth process of goats, camels and yaks and the changes of their fibers to protect the whole natural area. Chafta has always adhered to the CIWF(Compassion in World Farming) agreement to ensure the welfare of animals and pastoralists, demonstrating the company's scrupulous attitude to pasture protection and its reverence for natural fibers.
Yak ranch: grazing and raising yaks on the grassland, rotating grazing in zoning area are basic measures to make use of the grassland in a planned way. Avoid overgrazing, prevent grassland degradation to ensure the safety of yaks in winter. The herdsmen will divide the pastures into warm season pastures and cold season pastures from far to near, from high ground to flat ground according to the conditions of the pastures and cattle. The warm season pasture and the cold season pasture can be divided into several plots, and the method of cyclic grazing can be adopted to make full use of each plot without excessive trampling, so that the forage grass has relatively sufficient time for recuperation and rest.

In our carding base, clean energy is our first choice. At our Qinghai Carding Base in Inner Mongolia,
Taking advantage of the local geography, solar and wind power are used as much as possible to reduce carbon emissions. At Dangxiong in Tibet, we use the natural geothermal energy to extend to industry and life.
(1)Maximize utilization of raw materials
An adult yak can only produce 0.5-1 kg of down per year, but this is only the weight of raw wool. The rest of the wool is normal wool. We buy the mixed wool from the herdsmen, and separate the down and different wool in our factory for many times. Usually the utilization rate of yak hair is not high, but in Chafta, according to the length and fineness of hair, we make different uses of fabric, wool utilization rate from 20% to 50%, so that every part of yak hair can be fully used.
(2)High energy utilization rate
We aim to make ecological protection, greatly improve the utilization rate of resources in the production chain, such as in dyeing, the use of natural dyes that do not contain heavy metals and toxic substances in the waste water. PH value is 7, neutral, does not need to be added acid-base balance adjustment, and therefore our factory in 70% in the process of dyeing wastewater can be recycled.
The RWS (Responsible Woll Standard), which was formally implemented in June 2016, provides the industry with a benchmark for animal welfare and land management practices in sheep farming and improves traceability. Since its implementation, the standard has been designed to provide industry with traceable natural fibres, to demonstrate practices that pastoral farmers around the world can achieve, to ensure that natural fibres are sourced from humanely treated animals and from pastures managed in a progressive manner, and to build communication and understanding between pastoral consumers and brands. The standard also provides a chain of health regulatory systems from the farm to the final product to ensure consumer confidence in RWS products.
All of Chafta's natural fibers are chemical-free and promise to come from GMO-free farms. These rare animals are free-range and grow entirely in nature, strictly meeting this criteria.
